Refill the Hp Q2612A Toner Cartridge and Reduce Printing Cost Per Page

Printing cost per page (CPP) is significantly lower for laser printers because a single toner cartridge can yield more than a thousand pages. Users of the HP LaserJet 1012 printer for instance only incurs a printing cost of $0.035 per page since a Q2612A OEM toner cartridge yields 2,000 pages and retails at $70 a piece. Although the printing cost is considered low, users will most likely disregard CPP figures because of the anticipated cost of OEM toner cartridges. Spending $70 every time the printer runs out of toner can be quite of a burden.

And what happens to the used toner cartridge? Well, it simply finds its way into the trash bin. Empty cartridges should not be disposed immediately as e-garbage because most likely it is still in fine form mechanically and can therefore be restored to print anew. Simply reload its toner chamber with a fresh supply of toner powder and the cartridge can be loaded to the printer again for another cycle of printing. The Q2612A toner cartridge for instance can be refilled with compatible toner supplied with the HP 1010 / 1012 / 1020 Series Toner Refill Kit. While the said third party consumable retails for less than $10, its print and yield performance matches that of the OEM cartridge. After all, compatible toner has been meticulously manufactured based on the specifications and performance standards of the OEM toner. When using a toner refill kit, printing cost per page drops to only $0.005.

Refill kits indeed afford users savings of over 50% against the price of a retail cartridge. Nonetheless, more savings can be generated if a 4 -pack toner refill kit is purchased. 4 packs come supplied with 4 bottles of toner powder that is good for 4 cartridge refills and 4 cycles of printing; along with 4 funnel caps, latex gloves, toner wipes and instruction manual. No need to worry about toner spoilage because refill toners have a shelf life of 12 months, with some even reaching 24 months. A 4-pack HP LaserJet 1012 toner refill kit retails for less than $30, bringing down printing cost per page to $0.004. Below is a preview of the refill process.

Using a refill tool (sold separately from the toner refill kit), melt a fill hole on the specified section of the cartridge to gain access to the toner chamber. The instruction manual supplied with the kit will illustrate through a diagram the exact spot where the fill hole is to be created.
Remove melted plastic if it falls inside the toner chamber and likewise empty the toner chamber from old toner residues.
Open the bottle of toner powder and attach the funnel cap to the bottle's mouth.
Insert the funnel cap into the fill hole and allow the toner powder to flow freely from the bottle to the toner chamber.
When the bottle is emptied and once cartridge is filled, cover the fill hole with electrical tape.
Shake the cartridge gently to distribute toner evenly and load it back to its slot on the laser printer.
Run a test print.

Whether a single bottle or 4-bottle pack HP toner refill kit is purchased by the user, it is really of no consequence because the bottom line is the reduced printing cost per page as well as the subsequent savings derived in the process.
