Why You Should Use Remanufactured Color Toner Cartridges

When it comes to selling an item that is cheap to make at very high prices, toner cartridges are a prime example of this. Companies such as Lexmark and Hewlett Packard make in excess of five billion dollars annually selling disposable supplies such as color toner cartridges. Information from these giants will tell you that purchasing these consumable items new is much more reliable than purchasing them remanufactured, but is that true?

Today, only about 20% of the color cartridges manufactured are recycled or remanufactured. Most people don't realize that they can submit their cartridges to be remanufactured and save money and the environment by purchasing these consumables for everyday use.

When a color toner cartridge is remanufactured, the process is pretty straightforward. This process may involve replacing some elements such as rollers, gears, drums and smart chips; however, overall, it is a very resource-thrifty process that keeps tons of waste out of the landfills. When an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) cartridge becomes depleted, rather than tossing it in the trash, smart consumers turn it in to a remanufacturer. The remanufacturer will clean it, replace all worn parts, refill it, test it, and then package it back up again to resell.

Using the remanufactured product is a win/win/win proposition! *Remanufacturing saves resources and keeps our planet clean and saves the consumer money! Remanufacturing locally creates local jobs! Imagine how all this would increase if the 20% of color toner cartridges that are currently remanufactured were to increase to 100% or even 50%! The benefits would be staggering!

To put it in perspective, understand that we don't usually see the huge numbers of cartridges that are discarded in developed countries. Instead, this sort of electronic waste makes its way to poor and undeveloped countries. There are areas in China and Nigeria where mountains of discarded color toner cartridges loom along the roadsides, and the water in the rivers runs every color of the rainbow from the wasted ink. In addition to the problems caused by the wasteful disposal of these consumables, the manufacture of which contributes to the wanton waste of resources. They are made of plastic - a petroleum product. In a world that is already addicted to oil, the additional and unnecessary use of oil to create millions of new cartridges on a regular, ongoing basis is unconscionable. By using a remanufactured compatible product, the use of petroleum products and the energy it takes to create new cartridges can be tremendously reduced.

Aside from that, tests have proven that remanufactured cartridges are just as reliable as OEM cartridges. Additionally, they are filled just as much or fuller than OEM cartridges, so you may get more ink for your money. In a world where money and resources are tight all over, we have every reason to make the most of what we have by reducing, reusing, and recycling. Using remanufactured products are one of the very best examples of the ways in which the individual choices of many can add up to huge benefits for all.

In closing I will add that remanufacturing color toner cartridges is much harder and more involved than monochrome cartridges. The process is longer and mistakes are less forgiving. With that said it is wise to only have an experienced company with a good track record perform this service for you. Also ask for references before choosing your remanufacturing company and enjoy the large cost savings.
